Here it is. The First Pure White from the Saarloos and sons Estate Vineyard El Camino Real. We dont have very much of it available, only around 30 Cases or so... 

We have heard this little wine described as a FIRECRACKER!

It is one of 3 in the Outdoor Collection.

It is most likely the 2008 DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay will be the last Chardonnay the Saarloos family produces.

As with the 2007 Daughter’s Chardonnay this wine was made for the DAUGHTERS in the family. The women in the Saarloos family love white wine, yet they are very specific in their tastes. Since this wine was made for them, the name takes the possessive form: DAUGHTER’S.

If you are expecting “this year’s version, of last year’s wine,” I am sorry to disappoint you. That is just not our style. Year to year your taste and style changes. You are not the same person you were last year. You have become better, you have more experience, you have been exposed to more things, more cultured. 

The 2008 DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay is an expression of that evolution. 

Think of the DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay as 

“the little Black Dress.”

On the Label is a photo of my HERO. Not many people are fortunate enough to meet their hero, I happened to be related to mine. Gilbert Saarloos was a self made man and had been on his own since his youth, SoLo if you will. He had always been the example for our family on how to live. He held his life's standards to the highest levels and to get him to compromise, was not something I had ever seen him do. He crafted the, “Saarloos Way,” not by words but by the way he lived his life. 

        It has been said that the best sermons are not preached, 

        but are lived and soaked into the eyes of their children.

The photo on the Label of SoLo illustrates this wine perfectly. It is  Gil, SoLo, in the prime of his life. He lays under a tree, aviators on, strong arms, white T, trunk open and having a picnic.  When we turned this photo over we read, 

“Gil - Before Marriage” in my Grandmothers hand writing.  This is Gil, SoLo. He is on his own, free, in his prime, without need for anything he cant provide for himself...

SoLo is just that kind of wine, Solo is strong, in its prime, catching its stride and without need of anything it cannot provide for itself.  

194six: moon is a progression as well as the next in sequence in this family of wines. Gil is no longer SoLo on the label. Here we find him and his wife Bertha on their Honeymoon in Arrowhead California. The two are laying on a large rock smiling. It seems this is a different Gil now. No longer alone but happily paired with his partner. Gil and Bert, were married to each other for over 50 years & what a pair they were. 

Gil: Bold, strong and diligent. The kind of man that did what needed to be done. Tough with a soft side seen by those he loved.

Bertha: On every level his beautiful, feminine, EQUAL! 

This blending of their strengths has created something entirely new and different when combined.  Each were there for other.  

As the women in our family would say to the men, 

    “you were good on your own, but together, we are complete” 

1946moon is an expression of two of our Estate Vineyards coming together in one bottle. No longer do we have two different varietals from different properties, we have a marriage. 

What once was separate is now joined.

brothers is the next progression in the family. It is a Bordeaux style wine that we have created. In the photo we find Gilbert, second from the left, flanked by Harold on his left, Elmer to his right, and John on the end. Each of these Sons of SAARLOOS are unique and have  impressive personalities. 

                       Harold the Driven Public Servant. 

                              Gilbert the Businessman. 

                                   Elmer the Farmer. 

                                    John the Warrior. 

The Saarloos brothers each followed their own path throughout life, very much the individuals. You may remember our stories of John from our Purper Hart. 

Syrah. Yet this wine is not about the individual, it is about the family, the brothers. It is about how no one loves you like your brother loves you be it by blood or friendship. He is there to make you sharper, stronger and better. Metal to Metal.                    

In our family it seems that one brother’s strength is another brothers weakness. We balance one another out. As a unit we can pull harder, plow deeper, run faster, and make more ground than anyone alone.  We Freight Train. 

            “It takes two men to make one brother.”

Here,  it takes 4 to make brothers. In the Bordeaux region of France, a family plants what grows best on the property. They then harvest and bottle this collection of individual varietals as an expression of the property itself. brothers is an expression of our valley. There are 4 personalities from different parts of our valley in brothers, each of the individuals sharing a common name. Freight Training!

If the DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay is “The Little Black Dress”  mrS. is Haute Couture. or our "high sewing." 

The women in our family tasted this wine in its raw form, and screamed THIS IS OURS!  This one has our Hart. When they said that we knew it had to be perfect.

Every aspect of this wine was directed at its high-quality.  The grapes have been sourced from the heart of the Santa Rita Hills A.V.A. With extreme attention to detail and finish, using time consuming, hand-executed techniques. Nothing was spared.

mrS. is the wine you serve, when you want to turn heads, have your partners heart skip a beat as well as bringing it  out, not for the perfect occasion, but to create IT!

Neither expense, effort or time were spared in this wine. Each detail has been fined, and every aspect  focused on its Fit and Finish.

mrS. makes me dream of my daughters wedding dress.

Whatever it will cost, I know it will be worth it,

because she will be happy.

She will be someone’s mrS.

This is the dress that was bought off the model on the runway before she turned around. 

As you know, it is not in our nature to repeat a wine.

However, Extended Family was Sold Out so fast, it is the first time most people have ever seen it. 

Who are we to deprive the masses of our favorite member of our Extended Family.

EXTENDED FAMILY - We have sold out of this wine. Yet if your willing to pay we are willing to sell our personal stock. EXTENDED FAMILY was a wine that we were very fortunate to bring to you. It is a personal project of a winemaker of a most notable winery. Extended family is the wine his family had every intention of adoring his name with. As our families have become closer over the years we had been prodding him over and over to make some of it for us, as we are huge fans of this wine. Finally he honored us by doing so. Once again a weaved pattern of two families have come together. We have created only 40 cases of this wine together. And have now SOLD OUT

O and 2 IS SOLD OUT. O and 2 is a curious name for a wine indeed. Truth be told, It was never meant to be released. In fact O and 2 is a throwback to the days of prohibition. To the days when knowing the password was a golden ticket. During that time a patriarch of a family could have in their possession 200 gallons of wine for personal consumption. This wine was held for just that reason. Personal Consumption. Our first release of our 2005 Syrah sold out so quickly that we needed to make sure we would have some in the future for our selves. Thus the secret name for the wine was born. It kind of became the secret knock for the family. Origin of Term: The Saarloos’ are a baseball family, a pitcher/catcher family to be exact. O and 2 is the best ball/strike count for a pitcher to be in.

Our family lives by a creed. “We live to honor those that have come before us, and to prepare the way for those yet to come.” No one lived this to the point of conviction as our Uncle John Saarloos. John Saarloos paid the ultimate price for freedom in WWII as many did, and received the Purple Heart. We could find no more fitting title for our Syrah that is so close to our heart than to remember John forever by naming it after him. We The Saarloos’ are a dutch family, and it seemed fitting to Honor those that have come before us in the Dutch language. You see, as we have a wine with a single estate vineyard vertical we have a label with one person. We do this because when you are alone you have a different personality than when you are with others.

Less than 4 Cases Left

At the first sight of DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay you may notice the label contains a intricate pattern of gold, with a modern version of the SAARLOOS&sons Family Identity. This pattern is a Damask print you may find in homes woven into linen and wallpaper patterns. The highlights in these patterns reflect the light differently according to the angle of the rays of light; the effect changes also with the position of the observer. Any subject, however intricate, can be copied by this method of weaving, provided that expense is no object. There is no better definition of what has gone into DAUGHTER’S Chardonnay. DAUGHTER’S is a fine woven tapestry of Santa Barbara County Chardonnay. Like most of our wines it is a blend of the most sought after vineyards in Santa Barbara. Each of the wines blended together to create DAUGHTER’S are fine wines any winemaker would be proud to have you taste. However, the unique traits of each of the wines when blended together made a wine greater than its parts. As we name each wine after its completion, though most of the time we find our wines tend to name themselves, DAUGHTER’S was less of a name and more of a declaration of ownership, hence it’s possessive title. When we spoke of this wine the women in our family seemed to tell us, pretty consistently mind you, what they thought of it and their opinions of the wine. In our family, talk about something enough, and you own it. HENCE: DAUGHTER’S *Note: When you have a Daughter you are King for Life.

194Five THE UNION is the natural progression in our wine offerings. In Purper Hart, you find a single verital and adorning the label a single person. We think of veritals as personalities. Each grape veritals has unique characteristics that are indicative of their surroundings, making them who they are, much like people. Some are quiet and bookish others are bold and opinionated, just the same as a person. When you take a sip of Purper Hart you find a bold, expressive, opinionated. As in any marriage you look for a complementing partner to enhance who you are. In a successful marriage you seek to compliment your partner and emphasize the best traits in the other person as we have in the blending of these veritals. In 194Five you find we have paired our bold expressive Syrah with a beautiful organically grown Cabernet Sauvignon. When this wine began to name itself, we found that the pairing of these veritals coming from two family vineyards was truly a marriage. As they say you do not marry the person you marry the family. RING EFFIE UNK - Where do I begin to describe this wine without divulging any information that jeopardizes our ability to create a wine like this again, moreover a friends trust. This wine is a collaboration of epic proportions. The wines that compose RING EFFIE UNK are sourced from a Vineyard and Winery that create only the highest level cult wines. We have even gone so far as to mask the total composition of this wine. We have been honored by good friendships to bring this wine to you. Perhaps I have already said to much......
